Egyptian Linen: From Flax to Fabric

This lecture will explore some of the distinctive features that made Egyptian textiles one of the great wonders of the ancient world.
An experienced spinner and a member of the Rocky Mountain Weavers’ Guild, Rhonda K. Hageman will discuss characteristics of flax fiber, compare European spinning techniques with the fiber preparing methods unique to Egypt, and describe the process of linen weaving used in the dynastic period.
